Russell Taylor says... What a disaster that we can't see this band live again. The album has grown over the years and become a classic ahead of its time.
Correct me if I am wrong but the UK support band Bandit contained Jim Diamond on vocals and also a certain Cliff Williams who went on to fame with AC/DC.

I was one of the (said to be) around 120 lead guitar players who went to the audition. Purple were a huge influence on me at the time and I just remember loving it so much jamming with the guys. I was lucky enough to be one of the 6 invited back later to the shortlist auditions, but obviously didn't get the gig - I think I looked a bit too much like Richie (had a black Strat)! But great experience anyway - and thanks to Jon for the whiskey to calm my nerves!
I correct myself. Bandit opened for PAL in Newcastle. Just looking at the photos and I think I
still have that concert ticket somewhere!!! I remember it all!
Ex-pat Geordie now living in North Carolina USA remembers seeing PAL in
Newcastle in the 70's. They opened for Hawkwind. What a night! What a memory!!
Great band and happy to find this site.
